Willamette River Nature Area - Restoration, Engagement, Research

Trail at the WRNA

Our Vision

To enhance the ecology and aesthetic of the Willamette River Nature Area through the three-pronged mission:

Restoration, Engagement, and Research

The vision is simple, but the task is challenging. To restore the area properly requires assessment of the current conditions, which are a result of numerous human disturbances and the encroachment of various invasive species, and then active measures to rectify and rejuvenate the area with native species, habitats, and enrichment. Research goes hand-in-hand with restoration, since we want to ensure our strategies are viable and repeatable, but we also want research to support students, faculty, collaborators, and organizations with similar goals. In this way, engagement will be our way of having a physical presence within the larger context, which entails working together as a community and educating all interested parties of our local natural area along the Willamette River.

Please refer to our priority project list if you wish to know what projects we are working on or have completed. Plus, if any of our goals match your interests or research, you can get involved at various capacities.
