H2Oregon #2

Students will become acquainted with the flow of Springfield and Eugene’s drinking water – from Timpanogas Lake, the headwaters of the beautiful Middle Fork Willamette River, to a biofarm plantation that is fertilized by Eugene’s wastewater.   Along the way they will learn about watershed ecology, environmental implications of water use and abuse, and what’s being done to keep our drinking water supplies safe and clean. The first three days of the trip will be spent backpacking the Middle Fork Willamette River National Recreation Trail from Timpanogos Lake to the Hills Creek Reservoir. The group will then tour the  Springfield Utility Board's  Water Treatment and Eugene's Metropolitan Wastewater Management systems.
